Anyone try this tent before?
Looking to rent from Piragus this winter....

Looks like a PITA to put up, but then ROCK SOLID after that. (providing your sleep system is in check...)

Never tried it, but it looks like it would be worth renting.

Not sure why you are so insistent on sleeping in a tent if your sleep system is sound. Why not just pitch a tarp? Or, if you are cold camping, why any type of shelter at all? It is not needed!

Not sure what your sleep system consists of, but I have been comfortable cold camping in the BWCA with the following without ever being in a tent. Closed cell foam pad (Therm-a-rest Ridge Rest Solar) as a base, ExPed Down Mat on top of the closed cell, 1-2 sleeping bags on top of the pads (Wiggy's Ultima Thule will suffice for one bag, for two, many options) all encased in a Gore Tex bivvy. Have slept in minus 20 in the above comfortably with no need for a tent.

Because we do not have bivvy saks.

First thought is the single wall design will collect a layer of frozen condensation overnite, double wall tents will also but the inner usually stays dry.
It is a very conventional 4 season design, Mountain Hardwear EV3 , and 2 wall designs North Face VE25, Mountain Hardwear Trango3
Bivy sack and tarp can work well, until the wind picks up and you get covered with blown snow. My winter tenting has mostly been done in a Lean1+, Walrus Hurricane Hole. and a Eureka geo-dome I modified with heavier aluminum frame. I feel most 4 season tents are somewhat crippled in 3 season use due to weight, pack size, entry/exit restrictions, including the Moki. Probably the worst place for a drop down door is winter camping.
Right now listed on Ebay are used, VE25, Moss Thunderdome, Hilleberg Nallo, Walrus Apogee. But at cost involved renting/borrowing may be better.

No, but have had good luck with NEMO tents and found them to be very high quality. I've had 1-2 NEMO tents in our gear for years. This one DOES look a bit more difficult to put up than some, but easier than some of the tents we used decades ago! And renting is the perfect way to see if it's really what you want; and if you DON'T like it, you'll still have an excellent shelter for your winter camping trip.

Here's another link that shows the erection. Merry Christmas!

I watched that video, & then another one which was more detailed...the versatility looks fantastic, lots of ways to open up the tent for ventilation & visibility, without having to get out and attach a rainfly if the weather gets bad. Looks like a really nice tent!

well - eff it - I think we're going to try it.
The folks at Piragus say its a PITA to put up... in the cold cold... but once its up - its SOLID. I'll give ya my report once we've tested it out.

worse case - we're renting it v.s. buying it.

Use a tarp and you will not need a bivvy sack-nor a tent!
