I need to replace one of my sleeping pads and I have been going through the forums for good suggestions and I feel more lost than when I started. I see that Exped and Neo are popular options, then when I look at Amazon, I see great rating for Klymit pads as well. Not sure if it matters, but I have a Big Agnes bag and am looking for moderate comfort, light weight, but doesn't have to be ultra light. Just looking for a current suggestion of what you would recommend for me.
Any advice is welcome.
Thanks.

As sleeping pads go I'm very happy using the Exped Synmat 7 L. The mat has a synthetic filling that helps insulate you from the ground. I can also use it with my hammock between the bottom two layers. It's a great pad.
Watch out for that rock!!!........ Oooo.... That's going to leave a mark...

One important aspect of buying a pad that is sometimes overlooked is its insulating power. There are a lot of good pads out there that will fit your needs. You just need to weigh the importance to you of all the variables - insulation, size, weight, bulk, comfort, reliability, cost.

+1 packs small, insulates well. perfect when temp stays above 40 F in my opinion

I would agree with boonie, to me possibly the most important choice is how cold you might be sleeping in, vs. R rating of pad. Sucks to be cold at night, period. And like bag ratings/sleep temps, can be different for different people.
For example, I have a BAgnes insulated air core that I like, and it is great until about 30 degrees. If temp is lower than that, I freeze, been there, no fun. So I have a very old Trest pad that works great for anytime below 30 is possible, and I take that one if that might happen, temp wise.
my .02 would be to buy a higher r rated or lower temp rated pad right away.
Lots of good choices out there. For a warmer weather pad, I think the Nemo brands look great, seen them, felt them, laid on them, but never slept on them.

I have BA Air Core, Exped Synmat 9 and a Nemo Cosmo 30 XL, and the Nemo is by far my favorite. Nice built in foot pump, and at 30 inches wide it is the most comfortable pad I have ever slept on, hands down. I like the Exped as well, but I really like the pump in the Nemo better.

Exped came out with a new version of the Synmat 7 this year that has box sides, called the Synmat 7 3D. It does add a bit of comfort over the version with round sides. Goes great with the Helinox Cot One.

It's rated to 1 degree F. I've used it in the 20s with no problem. Very reliably a 3-season mattress, probably 3 1/2."
Lily, When the temp drops into the 30's or lower I use my Exped Downmat 9 LW. Its my favorite pad but the price is kinda high. - Jim

Thank you so much for the advice, I went to REI with everyone's thoughts and after trying them all ended up going with a Nemo. Seemed the best fit for me with the weight, comfort and pack size.

That's good news-although expensive!

Looks very comfy, but it is too narrow. That's what I love about the Cosmo; at 30" wide, my arms do not flop off like all of the other pads I own.

Any interest to sell one and make a buck? My thermarest guide lite died last week when I left it inflated and sealed in a hot car al day at 9k feet. Phenomenal service for 16 years I'm looking for a cheap replacement that will match my old full coverage chair kit of the same vintage.
