What is that one item you take just for the sheer pleasure of it?

For me, it is a hammock with bug netting to relax after a tiring day.

Does anybody know of a nice hanging chair which can be hung from a limb and used as a chair. I like my hammock but do not like using it as a chair. I know Nags head hammocks make them but they are a bit bulky to be trekking with.

See how it feels at 5:18

Notice the grass growing in the fire pit? There were two toads living under the moss that has grown a few inches deep in the fire pit.
Wabakimi has a lot of campsite like that.

My hammock is a necessity, not a luxury item. It's my only sleeping shelter.

A 30 oz. Helinox chair is my one luxury item.

We bought 2 of those helonix chairs at 'copia...yep definitely a luxury. more comfy than the Roll A Chair
Hammocks...I bring them but I seem to spend more time setting them up and taking them down than actually using them....keep wondering if they are worth the effort bringing.

A chair is my one luxury item. It beats a log any day.

these logs were dead and down, a ranger stopped by and commented how comfortable they look. The chair is about the same size as a deck of cards. Next campsite you just find 4 more poles. It is so comfy that you will fall asleep in one.

When I sit on my hammock it cuts into the back of my legs cutting off circulation. I also tend to fall back not sit up like a chair does.

2' by 3' rectangle rip stop nylon. There is a small pocket sewn in the top for paracord and a large pocket sewn in the bottom for the pole to slide through. You move the leg in the back farther out and you can lay back, move toward the front and you sit up. Kind of like a Lazy-boy.

Sea to Summit Double Box Net Shelter. Weighs 18 oz, packs to the size of a nalgene and is only 50 bucks. Mine is on its 4th season and it simply rocks!

Yep, but it's seldom easy to pull the hammock up next to the fire.

What we've come to call here the diva fan. I got mine given to me by diva on my 40 day trip. Great for starting fires and duct tape it to the canoe for more speed... haha.

I take two luxury items, my REI chair and the pictured item below. If I had to leave one of them home it would be the chair.

I could never consider a cell phone as a luxury item out in the bush.
I consider it a leash.

Solid rocking chair from Dicks. Base campings is bringing it into the realm of a necessity.

I have a new one now: BA Helinox Camp Chair (not the chair one). Man, is this thing comfy!

What do you spend the most time setting up the hammock with? If you're just doing a hammock, look into the ENO Atlas suspension system.

ENO Atlas Hammock Suspension Straps at REI.com ($30) - click for pictures and reviews

You thread the strap around the tree, use carabiners to hang up your hammock from the straps, and adjust until 'level' ... Makes hammock set-up super fast. I have used them to set my hammock up on trees and posts.

Keep in mind that we base camp.
My luxury item is chair. Not some small uncomfortable camping chair with no back like my friends bring. I bring a normal folding outdoor chair. After a day on the water sitting in a canoe, it's great to relax or even nap in my folding chair. Whenever I'm not sitting in it, somebody else in my group ALWAYS is, even if they brought their own.

I take a relatively cheap, light one. (Walmart).
I use one with a mesh seat, in case it gets left out in the rain. Water won't puddle up in the seat and it dries quicker.

My chair fits easily in the canoe, and with the shoulder strap is easy to carry.

Can't believe nobody has said this yet... but I like taking a Coleman queen sized air-mattress for my wife and I. A little extra weight but packs smaller than the 2 sleeping pads we also have. Makes for a great nights sleep.

For me
+ 1 on light weight chair with back rest that straps to my pack.
Hammock is what I sleep in so that does not qualify.

If the wife came with me, that might change.
