I found something I don't like about Helinox chairs. They're not worth a dam on Ozark river gravel bars. Not only do they sink into the gravel, they don't sink in a linear fashion, they will actually dump you out sideways. And if they do sink consistently, it's pretty hard for an old fat man to get out at 6 inches lower than standard. This may be old news, but I found some feet, sorta like a ball with a hole in it. The reviews looked good except some backpackers bitched about the weight, they're about 25 bucks a chair. Anyway, if you're in the market for a high-end chair, you might want to consider this. I noticed that a couple of other similar chairs seemed to have already dealt with this issue, at least to some degree.

I wrote to Helinox about this. I pointed out that I bought a $150 outdoor chair that can't be used outdoors unless you modify it. That makes the $150 chair a $180 chair after you buy Helinox's feet adapters. I didn't receive any reply whatsoever. I've lost some of my respect for Helinox.

I think that's a bit harsh and exaggerated. Certainly, the weak point of these chairs are that they sink into soft ground, but I've used mine dozens of nights without modification and it is workable. The biggest challenge is a combination of slopes and soft ground, then it's definitely not as comfortable as the risk of tipping over is much greater.

I actually can agree. I have had Big Agnes air mattresses and they have all failed due to lack of thinking through of the design.. I think that happened again though the consequences are not quite as severe.
I can get the whiffle ball feet back in the bag, but how do you tennis ball users pack it all in that bag?

The "Camp Chair" bag easily fits the balls, on or off (on takes some doing)...I'm thinking of switching to racquet balls though...smaller and wont hold sand.
I actually have but could only find 2 so far. might just take 2 of each.
Edit: The Camp Chair also has bigger feat than the Chair One. The tube is larger.
I'm just here to give my opinion...If you don't like it, ignore it.

two mods I have done with my regular chairs
one put golf balls on the feet :)
I tried wood and wiffle balls and tennis balls and PVC pipe etc...
at least for me golf balls worked best :)
the others allowed dirt and water to get trapped inside or on the surface etc.... making a mess when packing up or more things to clean and or assemble onto the chair !
some did not stay on as good as the stock ones either
where the golf balls stay on no way are they coming off and are very clean and dont hold any dirt etc...
a mod I would try though if I had hiking poles along is one to make a head rest that works amazing well
sorry not the best pic of the mod meant to do a vid some day :)
I have fallen asleep with this head rest mod :) it works that well !
but the basics are velcro tape for the top and for the bottom I found braided bilge hose worked awesome
I tried wood and pvc and many things but the flexibility helps
also it wont crawl up the legs
basically a short chunk of hose with 1/2 inch hole drilled into it when being pinched with a vice grip then slid onto the bottom of the chair and another hole for the bottom of the pole to go into then just use the bag as the head rest part and kinda open it up as a head pocket :)
worth trying out if you like a head rest and have the regular size helinox and since its just a small piece of velcro tape and hose weighs almost nothing
put the ends of the pole in to the inside then wrap the tape around the pole toward the outside near the top is what I found worked best :)
