The ones in the first link look almost identical to the Merrells I have. They are super light and comfortable. I would think it would be a great camp shoe. (Or, maybe it's just that I switched to them only last week after a winter in my mid-height boot.)

They look like the newer models of the merrell manistee pros that Ive used the last three years. I wouldnt say the sole is the stickiest or best for wet rocks like some of the five ten shoes, but much better than large lugs of some boots/shoes. The water drains extremely well and with a pair of very light weight wool socks it does a nice job of not feeling like your wetfooting it. They also dry very fast.

"Set of camp/water shoes"
Set: two corresponding things designed for use together

The second pair you suggested are great. comfy, but not for me. I had a small pebble in my shoes and it wore a in my foot over the course of the day. I prefer a full shoe with an open heel (not sandals), so I can dunk and cleanse the shoes before portaging or paddling

I had a pair of merrills very similar to those. because they were water shoes, the construction was a very thin material that hurt my feet, with socks on. when my feet, shoes got wet, hurt even more.
they were not comfy at all. they ended up at goodwill.

I use the merril type water shoe. The closed heel keeps small pebbles from getting in the shoe. Once you get a pebble in your shoe the only way to get it out is to stop and take your shoe off.

did you find you had to go up half a size? I tried on a pair of merrell hiking shoes at sports authority yesterday and my normal 11's were a tad too small, wondering if its the same in all models.

The water shoes I have used in the past had a few issues that made me decide to go a different route. The first issue is although they drain quickly portaging in them with or without a sock on aggressive terrain led to a lot of rubbing and friction creating quite a few blisters for me. The second issue was sand getting into the shoe creating a sandpaper effect on my feet and it could take a while trying to rinse all the sand out. That was just my experience. Good Luck!

Yes i found them a tad too small, I should have got the next size bigger for wool socks.

My kids had the Merrell water shoes. The mesh was inflexible and not comfortable. They ended up at goodwill as well. Maybe they've changed the material - I think Zappos has free return shipping.
Another suggestion. TC Running in Eden Prairie has a huge selection of trail runners (not water shoes) and very good prices. I have very "meshy" trail runners with green superfeet for "water shoes". They don't dry quite as fast, or drain quite as fast, as true water shoes. But to me they work almost as well and IMHO are lighter more comfortable.
