The only complaint about helinox chairs are the feet settle into soft ground. I found a simple but effective solution. 1/2", schedule 40 sewer pipe fittings, 90 degree street elbow. $3 for 4 fittings, able to be removed to stow and keep benefit of having each foot separate.
Wrap chair leg with gorilla duct tape, I used 2 wraps to get a firm fit and then check street side of elbow for tight fit. I also added a piece of tape to outside of footing to help with traction on rocks. Works like a charm in yard test.

Same here - would like to see photos. We bought two Helinox chairs this year for our upcoming trip. Was thinking about using tennis balls, but your idea sounds interesting.

I wonder rather than using tape to take up the space if you could use some foam from a pool noodle or some pipe insulation cut to size. That way you haven't got that sticky tape residue to contend with when the tape starts to go bad.

we talked about this problem this spring as Kiporby and Sunny kept tipping over in their chairs.....sober. One of my thoughts was to put 2 90 degree bends in a piece of conduit that spanned between front legs and one between the back legs. The short section after the bend would slide onto bottom of chair leg. The 2 pieces could be bungied around the chair package for storage.
I see someone else has put their frustrations into quicker action.

Why don't you just cut an x in four tennis balls that the chair feet will fit into. Quick, cheap, and it works. I thought the use of tennis balls with these chairs for the purpose of keeping them from sinking into soft ground was common knowledge.

You could use those balls from the ball pits that kids play in and cut an X in them like the tennis ball. they are plastic and would be easy to clean off and are about the same size or a little bigger than a tennis ball.

That is what I did, and it works great.

That is a good idea! Take up less space than tennis balls, for sure.

I thought those chairs were supposed to be compact? Seems like all these balls would confound the whole concept. I think the tube of 3/4" pvc with an elbow on both ends seems like a decent idea, because it can be attached to the package.

The golf balls attach to the feet and you fold up and pack the Helinox normally. It fits in fine in the zipper pouch.
