I have a Minn 2 and a Mad River solo and my question is how can I put in some D-Rings or some other lashing points in the canoes? I tried commercial grade Velcro but it wont stick to the rough surface, I cleaned the area with ether before hand. I talked to the Weenonah rep at Midwest Mountaineer Expo and he said the only way was to fiberglass the in, not really interested in doing that. Thanks in advance, FRED

You could always glue them in. OR if you are putting the lashing point up high up by the gunwale then you could drill some small holes or put some holes in the thwarts.

Why do you want to do that?

What about lashing points on gunnels and/or thwarts? If you're not needing to install air bags, that's what i would suggest. Here's a few examples of some of mine.

How do you put those together? Screw down through the gunwale and put webbing on bolt?

I usually use existing holes or bolts on thwarts, seats, etc. Melt a hole through some nylon strap pieces, add a washer and voila!

$48.95 for D-ring kit? Wow, they've gotten expensive. Price for what I have is a few cents for washers and bolts and I use left over nylon strap material. And, IMHO, it works better unless you need to fasten in air bags for whitewater.
