I did replace a few items this past winter.
1- msr titanium solo cook kit.
2-Western mountaineering down bag.
3- hawk vittles-these look like very tasty meals.
4- stohlquist trekker pfd.

just when you think you have it all, something lighter, better, or just the plain want it attitude, get's you to buy it.

looking forward to 2013 paddling season!

what's new for you?

I can't list them here, my wife might see.

Purchased a CCS 30L Barrel harness with the side pockets at "Canoecopia". Also plan to buy a gravity water filtration system from REI before the 20% Member Sale ends April 7th.

1- used prism
2-warbonnet XLC hammock
3-two superfly's for hammock, ordered two by mistake, decided to keep both.
4-dragonfly stove and fuel bottles
5-small hummingbird fish finder

I've blown through my gear stipend for both 2013-14, but I think I said that last year as well.... No more gear. No more gear.

Got a big and a small bear vault. On a side note the big bear vault is currently being used as the place the 3 yo's toys go when he needs them taken away for being bad... He can see them but not get them

Plus while they're not going into the woods with me we did buy an excalibur dehydrator and a vacuum sealer to make "ripple" style camp meals (and also dried fruit and what not for the wife and kids). I have already put up ~15 meal packs.

Also, some clothing that I suppose could be considered camping gear. (though I wear it at other times as well.)

So far, rei flex lite chair, caribiners and decending rings to replace steel ones. Sawyer 4l gravity water filter, food saver, nalgene glow in the dark water bottle (cmon it was glow in the dark!), a jeep grand cherokee, a goodwill aluminum cook pot, a handmade underquilt, two winesaver plastic reseviors, new wool socks, new lightweight long underwear, a couple compresion sacks and someone please stop me from buying another thing.

03/29/2013 09:18PM
Started out with a 20 deg Burrow topquilt with 2 oz. over stuff from Hammockgear.

Last weekend I got a new CCS Rucksack that Dan made some custom features for me. Will post some pictures when I get time.

Then I ordered a Lean 2 plus for the boys from Dan.

Think that this will be my next purchase.

I can't say much about it yet since I haven't been able to use it, but I can say is that I was pleasantly surprised at how roomy it is for a two person tent (especially when you consider the vestibule area for gear). It also seems to be very well made, and it's very light. I can't wait to give it a good field test.

MSR WindPro II
Leatherman w/ Clip
REI Flex Lite Chair
Showdown Troller 2.0
Rod Sentry
SealLine Pro Pack
GoPro Hero 3

After using iso-butane on a trip last year, I needed to get my own.
I've been using the smaller version of this Leatherman for 2 years and love it. I clip it to my belt loop whenever I'm on the boat. Figured it couldn't hurt to upgrade.
Never brought a chair, trolling rod holder, or a fish locater, so I'm excited for that.
I have other SealLine/OverBoard bags, and I use them for all types of travel. This will be the bag that carries the groups clothing. Hopefully we don't loose that bag!!
I have some great idea for the GoPro, I can't wait to film.

My wife could care less what I get especially if it makes it more comfortable or less work for her. She's loving it that this year we can get in a screened tarp to avoid the skeeters and the 30L barrels will be great as we don't need to do a hang.

Spring Creek solo portage yoke, refinished BB and Mitchell paddles (they'll be good as new), mini-steripen, two way radios (double as weather), map case for CCS cover (left mine at the river last month, stupid), kneeling thwart from Ed's. I feel lost, like I don't have any gear left to need. On one hand it's a relief, on the other...

I geared up to do solo travel. Even with the wife along, it opens up new fishing possiblities. Can't wait for July.

-New "Modern" CCS packs (solo canoe compatible)
-Prism Solo Boat
-Bending Branches 280 cm Slice Glass paddle (put half of a 280 and half of a 260 together for a 270 cm paddle!)
-NB OTB boots (not sure about yet but we'll give 'em a shot)
-Got a bear can of some sort. Hard to open.

This site has been great for learning about new gear and ways to do things.

Can hardly go wrong with one of Henry's tents. You just have to get used to it with an open mind, as he has done a lot of thinking outside the box to be successful in creating his versions of UL tent designs.

New/used Gopro Hero 2 HD with a bunch of accessories.
Flex-lite chair
Restocked some of the freeze dried foods over the winter.
More software for my Garmin.
3 more of my favorite LED cap light.
Best of all, the 'go-ahead' from my wife for a fly-in trip to either Opasquia or Woodland Caribou!

Nemo Fillo camp pillow
Osprey Kestrel 68 pack
twilights battery operated camp lights for my hammock

Sea to Summit trash sack

I can just feel my pack getting heavier. I think it gains 5-10 lbs every year. Its a good thing I went for the lighter paddle.

OK, I like and use some oddball gear. With that said I was in the market for a replacement for my old, trail worn, Granite Gear Talus. Found REI clearing out GG Nimbus Core Packs at $160.
Very different style pack and I have used it for a few hikes. Converted/modified a CamelBak UnBottle to hang from the suspension.
Very comfortable to carry and it will be going to the BWCA, along with many other places.

Yeah for solo use I haven't really found that I need the second door/vestibule at all, but I bought it mainly for when the wife comes along for backpacking and canoe camping. I'm thinking that with two vestibules and the fact that it's relatively roomy to begin with, it will be perfect for the two of us.

My New balance OTB boots have held up fine so far. They are kind of stiff in the footbed, so I bought some inserts that I punched some holes into. They are much more comfortable that way and drain just as well. I did two bwca trips with them last year, and a couple of other short paddles. holding up fine.

First time poster, long time lurker.
Thanks to all of you for your detailed and passionate gear reviews.
I've just taken up paddling at a late age and this winter have had to buy all new camping gear to replace old/inappropriate car camping gear.

I won't list all the things I purchased, but lets just say that if any of you visit the Adirondacks, just look for the guy with all the nice gear that you have been recommending. With regard to several of my purchases, lets just say that Dan Cooke is fortunate to have such loyal customers for his quality gear. The cooking/dehydrating threads have also given me something to do in the winter to prep for the ADK ice-out coming soon.

Now I have a goal of getting to the Boundary waters as soon as I can.

Bruce

I picked up a SteriPen Opti, MSR Whisperlite Universal, and MSR Hoop tent this past winter. All of these purchases were preparing for my personal outfitter's (my parents) moving out of town. I had always used my dad's stoves, and two person tent, and my paddling partner's steripen. However, with my folks leaving and my buddy starting a family I needed my own gear for myself and my own budding family's trips. I haven't had a chance to put any of them to the test other than make sure they went together correctly and worked.

Kanoes, have you used the hoop yet? I really liked the design, weight, and size, but haven't been able to field test it yet. What made you get it?

i have not used it yet. hopefully, on may 18th, that will change.

i liked everything. very airy interior, great headroom. i wouldnt want it for a summer tent as it doesnt have much screening.
