One of my portage packs has lost a clip to hold the flap down. I have bought 3 different kinds of clips and none of them match. I do not want to cut out the other one and sew in a new one, I just want to find a clip that matches it. How does one go about doing that? I have gone by the inches, however the middle part doesn't aways fit, or the lock doesn't match up.

Take the pack with to an "Army/Navy surplus store", and look for a match. Usually they have a large assortment.

Another option would be to check with Thrifty Outfitters upstairs at Midwest Outfitters. They have a board of clip samples at their repair desk that they carry if I am not mistaken.

REI has a good selection of buckles and clips too.

I go to a local outdoor gear store(actually it is a factory that makes packs etc) that has boxes of buckles and fasteners. I take the mate that is missing a piece.

I have also had good luck with Seattle Fabrics

Ask the manufacturer what brand/ size it is and if they sell replacements. I have a number of samples quick release buckles that may match.
