I have always taken a 10" cip. I have a very old set made in Australia back in the 1940's. It is about a third less in weight, so well seasoned nothing sticks in it, and I used it as an anchor one trip when I forgot my anchor bag... worked great and never snagged...

Dang why didn't I think of that. Just tie the rope to the handle. :)
