Wow, if it's really 400# strength, that's a bargain.

I've been using that PMI stuff for awhile, havent had an issue with it, much cheaper than trying to buy the Milspec stuff.

I have been using this as well. Good dtuff and great for lots of stuff I have not figured out yet.
REI has it in several colors as well.

That is some good cord. I bought 150' of the same cord in Viking purple. It was much more than you paid for it, $.18 a foot. I wish I had seen this cord because I would have bought it.

That really is a decent deal. I looked around on the internet and I think REI has it at the best price.

Now if they could offer the stuff with the reflective threads in it for that price that would be completely awesome!

You can also get 100ft of Rothco 550 paracord for under $8 on Amazon. Just throwing it out there. Got mine shipped free. Great stuff.

I purchased 100' last year, and went out and purchased another 100' this winter (In the blaze orange too). I love it.

Being nylon I wonder how much does it stretch? I looked around a bit and could not get this info, but did see it comes with reflective option from some suppliers. For tie down, etc the stretch is not a big concern, but for ridge-lines and hammock hanging it can be an issue. Thanks.

I've used it about a dozen times for my hammock tarp without any stretch issues, however, I do not use a ridgeline for the record.

I also use similar cord. VERY strong, VERY lightweight, and VERY compact.

I used this for a hammock last fall, and while it will stretch a little, it wasn't enough to be problematic. The bigger problem was that it's a smidge on the slick side, so I had to be a little more creative than just a single standard tautline hitch to get my knots to stay in place.

I also bought this line with the intension of using it for my hammock set up. I found it to be "slick" but also a little too thick. I was having a hard time having that line grab when using them with these stakes.

I will be using Spectra for this the next time around.

I will still however keep the PMI stuff in my bag as a "just in case" cordage.

Hard to beat 1.75 mm Zing It for strength and light weight. Requires a few new knots but well worth the effort. I have used it to make "soft shackle biners" to replace carabiners which has saved a good bit of weight. I think my heaviest carabiners weigh ~35 grams. The Zing I biners weigh 1gram. I have to weigh two of them together so that the weight registers on my scale. Amazing stuff. But learning a locked brummel on 1.75 mm rope requires some patience.

This is a commercially available option:

I found Spectra also to be pretty slick.
