picked up some reflective guy lines for my new taj 3 and i am looking for some help with the 'storage' of these guy lines. i want to leave the lines attached to the fly so that they are there when i need them, but i dont want a tangled mess when i flop the fly over the tent. what methods do you guys/gals use? if you have pics that would really help too, i like visual aids!

thanks.

make small coils by wrapping around your hand then rubberband them.

thinking a little more about it, i dont think yould have much of a mess if you just left them attached and loose when you pack the tent.

i hadn't seen the guy line stuff sacks before. those look pretty good. but it's a little hard to imagine paying $60 (6 lines coming off the fly) to organize my lines. maybe i could sew my own.

but my suggestion is using a daisy chain. you can fold the lines over double or triple and then daisy chain it.

A lot of times I just keep doubling ropes up end-to-end until they get as short as they can and still be able to tie an overhand knot in them.

Or you could use BDB's or velcro straps just like the rubber bands kanoes suggested.

The ropes for the bottom of the Taj 3 only need to be about 2 1/2 feet long. I have never had any tangles just stuffing everything into the bag while still attached. Rarely if ever do I use the tie outs mid way up the tent, so those are never attached.

I've always just thrown the guy lines in with the tent and rain fly and rolled it all up. Seems unnecessary to do anything beyond that.

I find that it is too much bother to bundle them up and I rarely get tangle problems.

If I did need to bundle them up, I might use small hair ties. They are cheap, brightly colored, and easy to see.

You might consider this line to avoid tangles also:

No Tangle Guy Line

BDB's

I've never left them on the fly. I remove them and just toss them in the tent bag. I suppose it would be less messy if you had room to toss them in the stake bag, or just make one bag to contain the ropes.

I just leave tied on the rain fly. Carefully fold the fly and never worry about them tangling. I have never had a problem in 30 years of camping. I can't image spending the time to do anything different.

I tie all mine in loops to begin with and then clip onto and snap link and stuff. The ridge line is simply coiled as kanoes stated.
