I know there are much better packs out there and some question the quality of this pack but....

I was just over at Cabela's and they had the Large pack size on clearance for $53.99. Normal is $99. Unfortunately this only applies to the blue color packs. They were out of blue so I brought a green one up to the cash register, and a manager was called who told me only the blues were on clearance as they were discontinuing that color.

Might be worth checking into.

Probably worth that price if anyone's looking for that size pack. No more blue, huh? I better tell a friend of mine who has several in that color.

There's one in Hammond, IN or check them out online. The blue ones are on-sale online, though not as discounted CFI mentions.

Cabelas in question in the one near Omaha. They were all out of the packs that were discounted but I was told this is a national clearance sale on the Blue Large Boundary Pack in store purchase only. Thought it might help some people out that are near a Cabelas...as they will not honor that price online.

Let me know if anyone else finds one.

Online they seem to be about $20 off regular price, so yeah not as good a deal.

I was at the cabelas in Rogers, MN last week and my friend bought a green one, I don't think they had any Blue ones so call ahead if you're going to try that store.

I drive by the Hammond, IN Cabelas daily. If anyone is really interested in one, I can check there.

Smart a$$ comments are neither helpful, constructive or appreciated. If you have had a negative personal experience with this product, by all means tell. That would be helpful, constructive and appreciated.

Not everyone can afford to purchase the traditional, more expensive Duluth or Kondos packs.

Back to the topic at hand......

Currently I use a Duluth pack, but for many years I used a Cabelas Boundary Waters pack in the Bdub. It is very functional and has worked out well for me and my group.I've also used a similar product from Seattle Sports.

My Cabelas and Seattle Sports packs still get regular use because I loan them out to new people in our group who don't want to invest that much at first.

I like the idea of them being waterproof, but I still bag all my important inside my civilian trail pack. If these lesser packs are not worth the money please do tell. Even at a bargain cave price it is still quite an investment for me to make to only have it last a couple trips. I do have to add that I am pretty handy with a large needle and nylon thread. Thanks

Tired, if you are refering to kanoes post, I believe it was an honest question about the empending floods. Not a comment on the pack. I have 4 of theese and haven't had a problem. One is 5 years old and has been on 6 trips. The only thing is over the years they must switch suppliers because I've seen some with cheaper shoulder straps, no waist belt etc. Make sure to look at the ones you intend to buy.

Thanks, I'm new to looking at actual BW packs, like I said, I just use what I have.

I've used the Boundary packs from Cabela's for years. I have two large models and ome small. I even still have an older model that doesn't have a waist strap or back pad. I've drug these bags around for eight trips into Quetico and probably twenty times around here for river camping. They still don't have any holes in them and are holding together.

My friend did have one strap come lose from the bottom of the bag because someone tried to pick up the bag fully loaded at the bottom of the strap instead of the top where it is reinforced. When we got home he was able to take it to a tent repair place and they were able to fix it like new.

I think for the money these are incredible bags and I like the fact that they are completely waterproof so that you don't have to mess with bagging anything inside.

My humble opinion and no...I don't work for Cabela's. LOL

No joy on the Hammond, IN Cabelas. I checked last night and all the bags, both blue and green, were at regular prices.

Dude, don't post if you feel the need to go on a rant. Kanoes was commenting on east grand forks mn, which is bound to be hit by damaging floods this year after all of this snow. No ill or snobbish comment was made about the cabelas pack. Relax.

After weighing your comments I went ahead and bought one. I think in my particular situation it'll work out nicely, and thanks to you I know what to do and not to do with it. Please understand I didn't make any ill smartass remarks in the process, although I AM prone to do stuff like that..;-)

I have looked at them and thought they were nice for the price. I did not like the little strap they had for a hip belt.

Happy Trails

The large one is best used for light, bulky items (sleeping gear). Otherwise, it's easy to load it up so much that it's too heavy for the limited cushioning the rather wimpy straps provide.
