I think this stuff is the answer to the question about cost versus weight. About 50% more than a CCS tarp but a third the weight. Why did you have to introduce me to this stuff!?! :)

However, I love my CCS tarp too much to give it up.

my understanding of cuben fiber is that it is very strong, light, and waterproof but hard to sew.

I understand that cuben fiber tarps are very loud. They "crinkle" in the wind, much like Tyvek that hasn't been washed.
