Has anyone done this using a strap? I recall seeing something about it but can not find anything.

I would try to fit a yoke and portage it like a canoe. A strap seems like it would be uncomfortable and awkward. What is your kayak made out of? Getting a yoke on a plastic boat is not difficult.... wood or fiberglass boats might be tougher.

There is a thread going in the general forum right now that has some kayak portaging ideas in it.

There is something called a "yak strap" or something like that. I have one and would only use it with my 9.5' kayak going to and from the car to the waters edge, and only if it was more than 20-30 yards, maybe. Very uncomfortable, clumsy, and totally unsuitable for a BW portage, IMHO. Find an adjustable portage yoke(can be very pricey),or make one.

I think I will take your advice and try to make one thanks to all.

GO VIKES!
