Is a smart thing to bring a fishing net when fishing from a kayak or is not needed. ive been in the bwca with a canoe and had no problem without a net but now im gowing their with a kayak.

I have never used one while in a canoe, but I do take a foldable one when in my Kayak. I have found it useful.

$25 gets you a nice foldable net that packs away in a pack and would be worth it IMO.

We always take a net on every trip, every where we go. We didn't for years and all you have to do is lose one good fish and that is what happened to me. We take a little more fishing gear than some, one small day pack with all tackle, reels, extra line, fillet knives ect.and we use a net with a handle that's about 20 inches long and a medium size hoop/net, it fits down in the pack with just a little of the handle sticking out. The guy carrying the canoe usually carries this pack as it doesn't weigh to much. Needless to say we base camp and double portage and don't put any fishing gear together until we get to our camp.
