Hey folks, looking for a recommendation here. My son needs a new bag- and he is a big guy, 6' 5" and 280 lbs. His old bag had a 70 in girth through the shoulders, and it was too small. Having trouble finding anything....Slumberjack had a "magnum" size bag that had a 90 inch shoulder girth, but it seems to be no longer made, or maybe I haven't looked hard enough. Kinda ran out of time this afternoon before work.
We do go on the "edges" of the season, so I'd like to find something that's good down to 20 degrees, and hopefully a mummy, synthetic.

Any ideas?

anyone have thoughts on the marmot trestles bags? A bit pricier than the slumberjack, but I have this sneaking suspicion that you usually get what you pay for.

I've used Marmot trestles 15 degree bags for 5 years now and have served me well during those years. They compress well for a synthetic bag, degree rating is just slightly over rated but pretty comfortable.
We only had the regular width version but I know they sell an xtra wide.

For next year I bought a Marmot lithium down bag since most of my trips are either May or early June.

DWG,
I am that size too... I had a NorthFace 20 or 25 degree long bag (Synthetic fill) that I ordered an entender for, and it added 6 inches in the shoulder area, and made it very comfortable. You might try looking for one of those for his bag... Or I guess I might could make someone a great deal on a bag I no longer use...

Also check 'familyfirstcamping.com' sku#30055 a "black pine sports +0 big johnson" . 100" shoulder girth synthetic mummy rated at zero but you know how that goes.....especially for bags on low to med price range. 'gearforcamping.com has it too.
