I really enjoyed reading the recent posts on different packs (CCS, Duluth, Granite Gear, Kondos) -- my husband and I have only used Granite Gear in the past for gear packs, but swear by Kondos for guide packs, tarps, and food packs. I think that if we ever decide to go the food barrel route, we will probably pick Kondos for that too.
However, the reason for this post is that we just found a great deal on the Granite Gear Traditional Portage Pack #4. While not as soulful as a Duluth Pack, for $68 shipped, we could not pass it up as we get ready for a fall trip in early October.
I have never shopped there before, but o2gearshop.com has lots of Granite Gear packs on sale right now and offers $10 off using code "summer." They also have free shipping on orders over $50. We bought the #4 for $78 - $10 coupon = $68 shipped.
I just wouldn't feel right not sharing this with fellow northwoods gearheads. As if I wasn't excited enough for our upcoming trip (I mean, I've already dehydrated beef and made bay bread and granola bars), I sure can't wait for the new pack!

Apologies - not meant to seem like an ad... maybe I'm just too enthusiastic! As someone who works for a nonprofit and has saved up some $$ for a couple of years to get back out to the BWCA (I now live in Wyoming) I was excited to find a good deal on some gear that I've eyed for some time --- but that seemed a little too much on my budget. Love the forum here and just wanted to contribute :)

that is a good deal and I am a huge GG fan!
FWIW-I have read on backpackinglight.com that this company (O2gearshop) doesn't stock everything they sell. they will place their order when you do. item may arrive dropshipped directly from manufacturer-HOPEFULLY in a timely manner.

Another update - I ordered the pack and it was shipped 6 business days after I placed the order (they said upfront about 5-7 days). It was shipped UPS and will arrive at my door in 4 days. As previous posters have mentioned, there is a bit of a wait --- but since I don't hit the water until Oct 4, I think it will be worth it for the price.

Yes, O2 still has these packs for sale. They have an up to 2 week delay, however, since they are back ordered and have to wait to have them shipped to them via the manufacturer. Although the pack is not shown on their web site (not that I could find anyhow) I just purchased one yesterday by calling them direct.
If you're interested, I suggest you simply give them a call at
1-877-504-4327. Mention the discount code "summer" and you'll get an additional $10 knocked off the $78 price.
IMO this is a great deal.

Mine arrived this morning. I have looked it over and inspected it and am quite pleased. It gives us some real nice flexibility for our tripping.
mnoutwest, thanks for the heads up on this deal, it is as you have stated "an awesome deal".

Wow, I just ordered two of them on Friday 9/18 at the cheaper rate. They were priced at $78.00 then got $10.00 off of total with the discount code. I had been kicking around the order since I saw the original post, glad I got off my butt and did it when I did. I had been renting packs, but at this price in 2 trips of renting they are paid for. Can't wait to get them.
