Anyone use this cook set? Is a set like this ok to cook over the fire? Opinions on a better/cheaper set?

It looks fine to me. It will do fine on the fire.

I don't have that set but I do have other GSI pots. Very good quality. Does a very good job. I really like the lexan lids with the fold down handle. The pots also have the spout-like sides so you can use it as a strainer or more easily pour water out of it.

I don't have experience with the cups or plates. I do, however, like a cup with a handle.

Is there a better set? Probably. But this one should be more than adequate and, if you like it, get it. I do like the anodized aluminum a little better than the teflon stuff.

Are there cheaper (and will perform just as well)? Probably. Any non-stick, nesting set will probably be OK.
