I'm finished with those artillery stuff 26 years ago.
Still it is sometimes nice to know how far I spot a thing.
The most important with this questions are to know how to use what I own, and the field glasses are really good, at least as regular field glasses.
The way of using it is quite simple, Find a reasonable reference item at same distance, multiply the reference distance with 1000 and divide this on the no of millirad the item is covering in the scale.
E.g. a canoe spotted is approximate 15' and covers approximate the distance between 2 marks (5 millirad.) 15x1000= 15000
15000/5=3000 The distance: approximate 3000'
If you prefer to use meters or yd's or fry-pans it is the same, just keep on the same unit.
