this thing is awesome
my butthead buddy ruined the one i picked up at canoeacopia in madison last winter, and i finally tracked one down last night at campmor they had in stock. we've been trying to find a replacement for a few months, now, but pacific outdoor can't seem to make enough of them.

it's rad, it's got support and carries well, and carries a buttload of stuff. we had two versions of waterproof bags and this one excelled. we split our food and dry essentials between the two sacks, and found we could really load up on this one.
i'm not trying to sell this bag, i just really like it. plus it's on sale now, it was like $100 delivered.

Looks like a good option. Looks more squared off than the Cabela's offering, which I think would be beneficial.

How'd Butthead ruin it?

I didn't do it!!!
I have NO relationship to the 'butthead' mentioned by wigone!
I wasn't there!
Don't know him or where he's from!

I know nothing----"Sergeant Schultz "

Wig,

Where did you find it for $100 delivered? Best I could find was REI, the 84 liter, at 20% off the $139 list price. Looks like a good packl to me, i'm a fan of a waterproof pack.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply it was done by The Butthead (ours) versus A butthead. I'll be more careful with my semantics in the future :)

I bought a Gobi 60L last year at Campmor for $59. Kinda wish I had ordered the big one, but it's perfect for my daughter to carry and hadles clothes and spare shoes for two easily. She's 5'2" and loves it. Easy carrier for anyone with good adjustments imo.

I looked at the Gobi - that 39 inch height of it . . . not a problem? I've been looking at the big Cabela's BW Pack and 36 inches seems a little to long or high. Have you carried a canoe on your shoulders with the Gobi?

yeah the shape is rad, we stuff it FULL

"a" butthead did the deed, not "the" butthead.

$107 delivered from CAMPMOR. the link is in the original post. campmor is always cheaper than REI, etc. if you know the item or model number of the specific thing you want, campmor will be cheapest FOR SURE!

yeah i have the 60L as well, i haven't used it yet, but it seems like that would be the ticket for the bag/canoe carry combo.

generally the guy who got the 84L bag would only carry that, as it was loaded with all our food and so was heavy. not sure if it would conflict with a canoe portage. go twice, enjoy the walk!
