i have used nikwax and grainger wash in waterproofing products...they work excellent to rejuvinate the durable water-resistant (DWR) finish on gear. you will notice that water beads up and runs off better. most of the new "lightweight" rain gear however is no match for a major soaking rain even with a good DWR finish. you need to wash with a low residue wash prior to treatment usually (nikwax and grainger both have "tech wash" products for this). and then tumble dry on med heat after the treatment.

I think any of the brand names, Nikwax or granger, or revivex will work for u. Wash the garment first with correct soap, and make sure to double rinse. Then the choice of treatment is either soak in or outside spray. The soak gets everything, but maybe with less breathability, because it is now on the inside of the fabric.
Either way, your coat will be much better. I am an outside treatment guy instead of soaking.

I have used all three products, they seem to hold up real well. I wash and treat my rain gear and duck hunting gear each year with one of theses produts, have been very happy with the results so far. I can not tell the diff between them.

From my experience, it will work well, but only for a little while. I would just get new stuff if you can afford it. The only stuff I would trust for long term use on fabric is (call me crazy) the old Thompsons Waterseal (before they changed the formula to be "new and improved") It will stiffen fabric a lot though, the only practical use I have found for it is on duffel bags and backpacks. Spray on waterproofing will never match the process they do in factories.
