I have the Garmin Mapsource US Topo 24K Central software on my computer, and have successfully downloaded the campsite and portage files to it. Unfortunately, when I try to upload the maps to the Garmin eTrex Legend HCx, all that is transferred are the maps. The campsite and portage information is not transferred. The little popup window on the Mapsource program that pops up when you try to transfer the data only allows you to click on "maps". There are selections for "routes" and "waypoints" to upload to the GPS, but you can't access them. I created a route and waypoints for an upcoming trip, but you can't transfer them because you can't click the boxes to select routes and waypoints.

I just e-mailed Garmin, so if I get an answer from them, I'll share it. Thanks. I did post this on another forum as well, but no responses yet.

On my Delorme PN20 I transfer 'map packages/overlays', have not transferred maps to a Garmin unit though. Garmin's good at supporting their products, I'm sure they will answer you.

I have a Legend Cx loaded up with the Topo 24K base map and have downloaded waypoints a number of times. There was a very informative thread that ran awhile back that really helped me out. Here is a link to it.
