I am looking at perhaps a change in trip...going somewhere new. I know one of the things my boys would hope for is decent fishing. Can anyone tell me anything about Fire and Hudson Lakes? Thank you.

My neighbor used to make the trek to Fire Lake for the big northern pike there. He didn't say how big they were though.

I find Hudson a bit difficult to fish because the shoreline seems to drop off quickly and little other structure except for a reef just off the island campsite. The other great spot on Hudson is where the river comes in. There can be some large walleyes there.

Fished both lakes late May about 10 years ago. Nothing but snakes in Fire. Good fishing below the rapids at the inlet in Hudson for walleye, bass and pike. If your going in May, bring minnows.

+1. Fire was a nice quiet lake. Campsites are not that great. Nothing big in there. Caught a few smallies, but, that's pretty much everywhere.
Had better luck on Hudson.

Fished Fire close to 10 years ago. I agree that it was a quiet lake but I didn't think the fishing was that good. My buddy got a nice pike (36 inch) and a hefty largemouth but I didn't catch anything worth mentioning. If the focus of the trip is on fishing then I wouldn't recommend Fire.
