Me too. Going to Mudro for the first time. Know of any reliable fishing spots from past trips?

We went up the bear trap river from Mudro a couple years ago. I caught a nice pike on Fourtown, towards the south end. Another guy in our group caught a nice Small Mouth in Boot. Check out the maps (topo maps) on this site, people have marked fishing spots and I think there a few marked in the area you are looking at.

Was up to Beartrap middle of June, we had good luck on Thunder but not much luck on Beartrap. Their is good Wallie fishing between the islands and off the rock walls. Gull is also a nice lake for wallies and SMB, leeches seemed to be the ticket their.

Heading in EP 22 July 6 - does anyone have any fresh information on these locales; primarily Fourtown, Horse, Boot, Gun and/or Fariy?

Fished Gun and Fourtown area 6/22-6/27. Camped on Gun for 3 days. During the day , we fished the entire shore line of Gun with heddon torpedos, rubber worms and floating rapalas and did great with smallies and northern. Plenty of action! At dusk we did very well with walleyes using slip bobbers and 5 foot leader with leeches. Plain hooks outfished jig heads 3 to 1. Focus on points/underwater structure and running water (hint).

Went through Moosecamp (Trolling caught 2 northerns), down river and camped on Fourtown Wed / Thurs. Did VERY well with walleyes on Fourtown where the moosecamp rivers enters, the islands in the middle of the lake and near the boot portage

GREAT fishing trip! My 6th time up in that area and I learn something new each time.

Bring plenty of leeches, depth finder if you have it and LOTS of deet! The flying bugs were worse this year than any in the last 7 IMO

Good Luck!!

Fished Beartrap for three days and caught nice walleyes with leaches and rapalas off the small Island in the middle. Fished on the Northwest side of the island. Also caught alot of smaller Northern with rapalas in shallow areas and bays. Wasn't very good fishing in front of camp.

Was on Gull for one night but it was to windy to explore. We stayed at the campsite furthest east. Only fished off the point and in to the bay at camp. Caught small northern, little smallmouth, and one decent walleye. Huge campsite.

Stayed at boot for three days at the second campsite from the south. Had good luck right in front of camp with leaches under a bobber. Caught alot of panfish and a few smallmouth each day. Fished around all the islands and caught more panfish and some nicer smallmouth. Smallmouth were hitting the topwater baits, we were using poppers. We used the Gulp leaches when we were catching alot of panfish and they seemed to bite that just as well as the live leaches. Out of all the panfish we caught, only two bluegill were full grown and ready for the pan.

I'm headed in this direction next week, so moving this back to the top.

Any recent fishing reports for Fairy, Gun, or Seagull...mebbe Thunder and Beartrap?

Thanks!

Was that way last week. Base camped on fourtown and took a day trip up to Gun. Did well on smallies and a nice walleye on gun along the stone wall right near the portage from Fairy in just a couple of hours of fishing. Slip bobber with a leech was what worked the best.

Did not try Fairy or Boot.

Good Luck!

Just returned from BWCAW today. Made it up to Beartrap, with limited success for walleye there in the bay just behind the campsite, brought in 2 "eaters"...enough for dinner anyway. Gull was much better, near the Mudhole portage and in front of the West campsite. Nice walleye there just beyond the weeds, brought in with rapala's. Took in dinner and the next morning's breakfast in under a half hour. Did some fishing in Fairy with limited success, released a 3lb pike, a 1.5 lb smallie, and two <14" walleye. Gull was where the fishing was best for us, for sure.
