I switched from my trusted fire line to this for this year. It was crap, they say it has better abrasion resistance, and this is just not true at all. Line was continually cut on rocks. And either fire line is way stronger than it says or this was way weaker. I lost a ton of stuck lures that I am able to yank of with same lb fire line. I will be switching right back to my fire line.

I used it once when it came out and never again. I can snap 10# between my hands like it's 2#. I stick with Power Pro.

The lighter line makes good dental floss. The 6# test I didn't mine, but tried some heavier stuff and didn't like at all. Like I said it is great dental floss, really.

Try power pro before you go back to fire line. You most likely won't ever go back to berkley IMHO

It's different, strange and has some quirks, but I have been using it in 12 and 17 pound test for a year or so and like it. Not that much different from Fireline Crystal but casts better. My fishing partner hates it. Takes a little getting use to.

We have some 8 and 12 lb on a few reels and like it a lot the past few years. Casts farther than anything and lots of feel. No problems with increased break-off's or knots like others have stated here and elsewhere. I'd buy it again if it was on sale

If you use Nanofil, make sure you use the modified palomar knot that Berkley recommends. You just go through the loop twice instead of once. It may work on Fireline if you are having trouble with slipping. The Nanofil line is so thin, and casts so well that the smallest test I use is 12 even on my lightest gear. I use 17# at home and am seriously thinking of going to 14# for the light stuff on my next purchase. Using the heavier line may help those strange "break offs". Also, remember to set your drag lighter than with similar weight mono, since you have zero stretch.

I will say with nanofil my casting distance on very light jigs it has doubled if not tripled my distance.

Yeah - the casting distance is amazing, and also makes it worth it to me for shore fishing for lakers in the BWCA. I happen to have a reel with an extra spool, so it's nice to keep Nanofil on one and mono on the other (wish they still sold reels with extra spools - I miss that).

I also used Nanofil on my ice fishing rigs last year and it performed well, though I got tired of having to tie a fancy knot every time. Mono is probably still king for ice fishing IMHO.
