Hey,

Heading to Beaver Creek Valley SP this weekend with the fam and time permitting I'd like to fly fish Beaver Creek. I've never been to this area in SW MN and have never fly fished the Driftless region. I've heard Beaver Creek has some nice Brookies and Browns. Does anyone have suggestions on this area? I would imagine starting out small, #18-24? I'm not sure how large some of the trout can get down there?

Thanks,

Beaver Creek is a great stream with browns of all sizes. The upper reaches (in both the east and west branches) are very clear, and the fish spook VERY easily. The stream is not as clear downstream, and is bigger and easier to fish.

I don't fish as small as some do. Size 14-18 is fine by me.

Most of these streams get pretty murky after a significant rain due to farmland run-off, so you might want to watch the weather.
