...heaviest fish (guestimate) caught during a bw/q/wcpp/wab canoe trip. caught on what you ask?

caught on one of these.

i ordered one today, heck...only 15 bucks shipped to store.

anyone up for this? or we could do a specie/length contest, might be easier.

now i have to pack some lures that if lost, wouldnt bother me. :)

Love the double tip - is that for when one snaps off?

They still make them?!?!? I guess the one I've had since the 70's isn't worth as much as I'd hoped. I thought it would be a collector's item by now..

I've seen tons of fish caught on these. A friend had one while we were in junior high. He used it often and never wore it out. As with 2old4U, I didn't think they made them anymore. I searched Ronco and found that they do and that the best buy at that time was to buy two of them directly from Ronco. That was about two years ago, and I ordered two.
They are great for the 'not so serious' fisherman, because they easily pack in the lid of a pack and don't weigh much.

I use to strap one of those to the bike on a nice summer day and head down to the lake! That is, until I got my Shakespeare bullet combo. Ah the good old days!

Man o man does it catch fish !!!!!

bogs told me you were bringing one on your wcpp trip, thus the idea for this contest. :)

For a while (don't know if it still stands) the Ontario lake trout record was caught on a Snoopy pole/reel.

ok, we will do species/length.

one rule. you can re-spool with new line but it has to be monofilament, 10 lb test or less.

04/09/2014 04:56PM
anyone else?

04/09/2014 04:59PM
Looks like fun. Unfortunately, I am unlikely to be in any of those places this year.

all right, thats 4. btw, its not the only "rod and reel" im taking.

pics would be great but not required. like i said before, re-spooling is fine but it can only be 10 lb test or less mono.

species and length will be the deciding factors.

ill go a step farther....fish caught ANYWHERE, not just on a canoe trip. it would be cool to see what that little thing can land.

I'm in. I'll try and get the rest of our group to join in!

Unfortunately I won't have time for a canoe trip up north this year... but if we are including "anywhere" then I'm REALLY tempted. I ought be able to pull something fun out of the Chippewa on that thing...

I went to Walmart to buy one today; they didn't have them, but I did see lots of Duck Dynasty merchandise.
Where can I physically buy one? Or does it have to be online?

04/12/2014 08:16PM
i bought online and shipping to the store was free.

I hear you. Although right handed, many years ago I started purchasing left handed bait casters. Like spinning, cast with right, reel with left. So much better.

Can't wait to see the outcome of this contest. FUN!

Well I spooled new 10 # mono on the two outfits tonight.

I have decided tonight that I will provide 5 laser trophy plauqes to the top fish as decided by Commissioner Kanoes at the end of the contest.

Fish on!!!

I sure hope that I catch something. I always wanted one of these as a kid.

06/12/2014 01:27PM
Ok, I think I'm in on this too. Puts a little competitive edge on my trip this year :)

Yes they have a silky smooth drag system its called a stop or snap system, the fish stops swimming or the line breaks :-)

I've been getting a few, but not enough to be confident enough to get out the PF. So, no photos yet.
Edit: I had a bite jigging last night but I missed it. Not the most sensitive rod I've jigged with, but what the hey.

I'll make room in my pack for mine. I'll try and get some action shots catching fish with it also.

IMO the new ones cast a heck of a lot better than the ones made in the 70s. I am actually looking forward to this.

Going thru the Falls Chain to Kawnipi, Keats, Chatterton, Russell and Sturgeon. I'll see if I can't catch a grand slam with it.
