Hah-hah! Actually, your fish make your head look like a ping pong ball.
I will paddle eternal, Kevlar and carbon.

It looks like a dream. Are you sure you didn't dream catching that bass? ;-)
I will paddle eternal, Kevlar and carbon.

quote blutofish1: "Not me but my dad on his first trip to the BWCA. 5 1/2 lb. smallie. He was so proud of that fish. He passed away in April and the smallie was on the wall in his bedroom where he could look at it all the time. "
This made me smile. Thanks for scanning it.
I will paddle eternal, Kevlar and carbon.

Ok, that's a monster. I appreciate that you don't hold your fish out to the camera. It's easier to judge the actual size the way you hold it. I'm guessing around 21-22 inches and 7 lbs?

My guess is 20.5" and right around 5lbs? Very nice filled out fish!
I am sandbagging a bit here...simply because my wife has caught two that I am very jealous of! :) I have posted them before but I will post them again later.
One thing I always look at is the distance from the hand to the end of the gill plate.

TomT, it was a big fish, but I didn't weigh or measure its length. It's not seven pounds, but as MagicStik wrote, it's nicely filled out. I have a pic of a bigger one with a belly sagging like a Florida largemouth, but it's a horrible pic. That fish was caught well into dusk and minutes from dark and my brother's underwater camera didn't have a flash. So, he left the shutter open as long as he could, but you can still see the sagging belly. It would have to be scanned, so there would be a further loss of resolution. MagicStik, I try to get the fish as close to my head as possible to give a sense of size, so I put my elbow behind my head. I think five pounds is a good guess!

Love the pics with kids holding bass! I can't wait to get my kids on some quality SM.
Here are the two my wife caught back to back nights. By far the biggest bass I have had the opportunity to lip! I still remember how thick the jaws were when I stuck my thumb in their mouths! It was truly and honor to hold these fish!
Glass water, screaming drag, and these pigs doing belly flops that sounded like a beaver tail hitting the water.
The wife was quite a trooper as we had our first child a couple months after this trip. :)

Wow!
Also, wow!
I love this: "Glass water, screaming drag, and these pigs doing belly flops that sounded like a beaver tail hitting the water."
P.S. - That first one has the nice, bulging belly, but that second one is one, big bulge!
I will paddle eternal, Kevlar and carbon.

Big, fat bass!"
And beautifully marked too. What became of it? Is it on a wall somwhere? What's the specs on it?
My biggest smallie was on Sarah Lake in 1988 and there was no camera but it was similar to this. Just like a football with a tail.

I wish the fish I just posted had the gut of your third fish!"

That fish was powerful. I used a Rapala Fat Rap (perch) and it was made out of balsa wood. As the fish lay in the canoe it "thwacked" its head and shattered my lure into three pieces. I still have the pieces as a souvenir.
I didn't measure or weigh it as I just wanted to get it back in the lake. It was a big one. My 8 year old son took the pic., we were daytripping from a resort on Farm Lake.

I love that you remember catching that bass and that you wanted to get it back into the lake ASAP. A pal once hooked a fish that ripped the metal spine out of a Rapala F13, straightened several hooks, and slung it back at us.

"remember catching that ass"...... I don't think you should be talking about those things in the fishing forum :-)
