I was just unpacking from my trip to Knife, and I realized that I caught a grand slams two days in a row. The first was on Knife on Friday, the second was on Knife (LT) and Birch for the rest on Saturday, plus a bonus Large Mouth. Anyone else done this?

We caught the slam + 4 on Basswood last week. The + 4 we caught were perch, largemouth, gills, and crappie. The fishing was fabulous even though we had a couple of rainy afternoons.

Doesn't the grand slam have some lengths to it? 30 inch eye ,30 inch LT, 40 inch Pike, 20inch SM. All Wall hangers. That was always my idea of it anyways

I think that slam would be very, very difficult. Especially the 30 inch eye.

Same here, I don't think I have ever caught a 30 inch trout. I've caught a walleye that went 32 inches, probably in double figures now on 40 inch pike, and I've caught more 20 inch smallies than I can count, just haven't got lucky with the trout. I guess if I actually fished for them I might have better odds.

I like the idea of adding the length stipulation to the slam but don't you think that would be damn near impossible to get those size fish on the same trip. After all, isn't that what the slam is all about, catching the 4 species on the same trip? By the way, i have these fine numbers from the b-dub. 21.5" smallie, 33" lake trout, and my personal favorite, 48" pike. The 30" walleye has eluded me so far. My best is 26". All of these big fish were caught on different trips.

Great job.

Believe it or not the fish that has prevented me from getting a grand slam at least 3x is a northern pike :) Never done it in one day.

My best grand slam was catching all 4 on a double willow blade chatreuse spinner bait on one trip. I would have never thought that would happen with a chartreuse spinner bait.

Would love to see a pic of that 48 inch pike if you have one you can post.

I've always called the Grand Slam: Walleye, Smallmouth, Lakers, Northern Pike.

A super Grand Slam adds Largemouth Bass.

Later,

I got the slam on Quetico and Jean Lakes last week. Trout were way easier to catch than walleyes.
