I'm headed up the Little Indian Sioux this Sunday and I was wondering how the fishing has been up that way all the way to Lac La Croix if anyones been up there yet, also have the bugs gotten real bad this last week with the warmer temps?

Just came out of LIS this past weekend. I'm not sure what we did wrong but for us fishing was very slow on Shell. We fished Shell, Little Shell, Lynx, and Heritage. Fishing was best on Heritage.
Bugs.... The parking lot at the EP, well, you better be heavy because you might get carried away. Once we got to our campsite I bet I didn't see more than two dozen Mosquitos in 4 days.
Good luck!

Just got back yesterday from the Moose lake area. The bugs were bad in the sheltered campsites and fine in the open areas. No bugs after dark because it was too cool or raining out. We camped on a point that had a good breeze. Only saw a few ticks but I sprayed clothes with Permethran.
Fishing was good after two rain fronts went through.

We were on Gabbro and Bald Eagle this past week, the fish were biting Sunday/Monday, but slowed down Tuesday/Wednesday when the weather got warm.
Bugs were not that bad, black flies were almost non existent and mosquitoes were ok during the day, but really got bad as the sun went down. We had 1 tick all week in our group of 6.

I know nothing about fishing and caught a couple small mouth bass, a couple Walleye, and five Northern on Monday and Tuesday. All while paddling up the Man Chain (and I didn't even have my line in the water much). They weren't huge but I was surprised I caught anything.
Water temp was about 60 degree's. They semed to be in pretty shallow and in shaded area's along shore structures.
Only fished for 35 minutes at dusk on Knife Weds. The bugs came out like crazy and all I caught was a bunch of mosquito bites :(

Fished the Bald Eagle area and beyond on Sunday through Wednesday. Walleye bite was non-existent for us, but we likely didn't find the right areas to fish. Small mouth action was excellent when trolling leeches for most of the trip.
As for bugs- mosquitoes were pretty thick at times, but we had enough bug dope that they usually didn't land. Biting flies were only a problem at EP 84 when leaving on Thursday. A decent wind helped to keep things in check most days.

Just got back from crab/western/boulder trip and the bugs were out in force in portages and low areas. Had about 10 ticks mostly dead from permithrin. Fishing was very good for SMB, LMB and nothern, no eyes to speak of.
