No Freshwater Drum in the BWCA that I've ever seen turn up in surveys. They are native to the drainage further downstream but not terribly common. I imagine that they might wander as far Little Vermillion? But that hasn't been confirmed to my knowledge. The logical barrier would be Loon Falls I would assume? If they are present in Voyaguers, or are there barriers in Voyageurs upstream of where you caught them?

I guess there wouldn't be a barrier in Voyageurs so if they are in Voyageurs then they should be present upstream to Loon Falls - probably not above that but not impossible. The farthest upstream they show up in "offical" surveys is the Rainy River but they could well exist in low numbers much father upstream? Not sure. I would assume the Loon River might be good place to look for them. Especially in May-June, they should really be stacked in current areas for spawning.

quote Basspro69: "Havent heard of them in the bwca, and hope I never do ."
I don't want to see ANY fish introduced outside of its natural range - be it Drum, Smallies, or Walleyes.
No reason to bash on Drum though. Fun to catch when they get bigger (5-15lbs+) Shockingly tasty in smaller sizes 1-2lbs. Not my favorite species by any stretch but I'd rather catch Drum than Walleye, just my opinion.
