Looking for a 4 night 5 day fishing trip suggestion for around the end of August. Been to Perent, Crocodile, Horseshoe, Vista, Agnes, Iron, LLC, Pine, Ensign, Knife, Brule, Shell, Lynx, and E & W Pike...and probably most lakes around these. Just looking for new water to fish and explore. Main species of concern...a few smaller walleyes for a meal...HOG W, SM, LM, and/or BT to CPR. Trip can be base camp or on the move. Prefer to start and end at same location....I try to avoid the very busy entry points but usually go in very early on a Wednesday. Don't mind putting in some work to get there. Let me hear what ya got. Email me with any that contain the ultra secret BT lakes... :)
Thanks in advance!

Here is a short one we did last spring.
Shangri-La up along the B-R-T
We did well for smallies in along the south shore of West Pike. Especially around the large island.
We didn't do this for that trip. But, for walleyes, a trip to Caribou would be in order. The portage from Clearwater is tough but, you come out near the narrows and good fishing.
Not sure if you're looking for this sort of thing? But, Johnson falls is also a fairly easy day trip away. And, if you're still feeling ambitious after getting there? Perhaps a fishing trip UP to Vale or Gadwall might help burn off some of that excess energy. :)

Thanks for the suggestion! Did the Pine & Pike Lakes loop years back. Got the campsite on Little Caribou and really enjoyed that little lake! Clearwater was a neat lake even though we just touched the east end. Never did take a trip up to Gogebic. Just might have to do this area again from antoher angle. :)

I didn't get an opportunity to fish much on this trip ( Nor-western waters) but, I know from previous experience, there are some good fishing lakes along the way.
Actually did have some success for lakers on Gun. Takucmich is also laker water & if you make it that far, you may want to try Trygg for brookies. I think Finger, Pocket & Ge-be-on-e-quet are all very good walleye & smallie waters.
Not the greatest fishery IMHO, (although it does offer lakers & smallies) but, Oyster lake is a really neat lake to set up camp. Of course if all else fails, LLC is always close by.

I certainly have north of LIS on my radar...just not sure I can enjoy all the fishing it has to offer in 5 days. I don't have much interest in Lakers later in the year. It would be a couple of days to make it to the Gun area correct??? I think if I saved Pocket for antoher trip I could do this area...just go up and back the same route....guess I would rather make a loop.
The portage from fat to slim sounds fun!
Also considering a trip to Gabbro and Bald Eagle and the surrouding lakes. Looks like some quality fishing opps in that area.

Thanks....I really like the looks of the Malberg area! My first "BW" trip was to Kawishiwi...but we just filled out day trip permits and stayed on the lake. It would be neat to start a trip here and revisit the area! Any input on smallie fishing in the Malberg area? Not much info on the DNR site...most of it's old info. I assume the smallies are in the lakes and rivers.

Magic.
I sent you an email. Gabbro/Bald Eagle is busy but I've had good fishing on Bald Eagle and Gull. If you get to do a trip w/ your daughter that would be an easy trip w/ good fishing.
I'm working hard on doing a solo this summer and up to Malberg and back is one of my ideas. There was a Top 10 Walleye article in the BWJ a few years ago and the area around Malberg had some lakes on that list.

Ducks,
Didn't see anything in my email. I will shoot ya one. This trip will be a buddy and I...now leaning towards Bald Eagle. Maybe do Malberg next year. Still planning a trip with the wife and daughter around the end of July...just haven't started researching that one yet. :)
