Just got back Saturday. Went in at Sawbill on Thursday the lake was a foot below the landing timbers. Saturday you can land the canoe above the timbers! Caught 5 SMB 1 small walleye.

Last week out of EP 16, I saw the nina moose go from as low as I have seen it to as high as I have seen it. Thank goodness for a good rain fly and and a big tarp. Fishing was good when the wind wasn't howling and I got to see the solar eclipse on one of the few dry days. Still a good trip regardless.

Same story here. Went in @ EP37 on Thursday rained all day, slow fishing Friday and Saturday. Woke to rain yesterday and decided to just paddle out and drive home.

Fished for walleye with leeches and crawlers. 4 walleye on leeches and one northern came on a #5 Mepps. Fishing was slow on Polly. Didnt catch one SMB and my GF tossed a chug bug all afternoon Friday.

I am guessing he SMB's are not in the shallows yet and not interested in topwaters just yet either.

LOL. Tell me about it.

We went out on Monday and exited on Sunday....rained every day, some days most if not all of the day. I'll never forget the inside plastic again.

We did get some OK fishing in. Got some walleyes on Gun Lake, and the smallies were hitting topwater on Crooked, so all was not lost. :)

I'm glad I brought that extra tarp for sure. I might need to invest in a "good tarp" though.

Our family went in on Friday on Slim (by Burntside) - didn't get to fish much but it was terrible - not one fish caught.

We also headed out a day early.

That was the first trip I ever used every bit of rope I had in my rope bag - two tarps up...

Also I am throwing away our 6 person Kelty dome tent. I don't think any amount of seam sealer is going to make that POS rain proof.

Wow guys those trips don't sound like that much fun. Heading up in 12 days with my three kids ages 13 11 and 4. If I had to be stuck in a tent or under a tarp that long with those 3 that might be the longest week of my life. I realy hope for better weather. Sorry guys those trips sound ruff. I know it can happen but not were u want to paddle out early. Been waiting 8 years for a summer vacation.

I hear ya Hef - and I hope you have better weather.

I am at the point where if I know I am not going to have fun I have no problem heading out early.

I don't mind the rain - if it isn't cold and the fish are biting I barely notice it. But when you get the trifecta of crap (rain, cold, no fish), the fun factor is not there.

Besides, we will be back up there in two weeks for a week-long trip and Camp DuNord and then later this summer for a longer BW trip.
