Hey,

I'm going to be on Crooked in May. Saturday Bay area.

I know Crooked doesn't have any lakers.......Does anyone know of laker lakes close to Crooked.

I'm thinking LLC, but I'm not too sure I want to go that far on a daytrip to target them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm trying to decide if I need to be taking gear for them this year or not.

Thanks,

Geo

Argo is one of the best lake trout lakes in the Quetico. Access from Sunday Bay and Friday Bay.

Lac La Croix in the BWCA
Otherwise Argo, Cone, Brent, in the Quetico

Well, I'm not going to be fishing the Q side.......I thought about it, but with my nephew, it is really, really hard to get all the permitting junk together.

Anyone have any on the BDUB side.

Thanks,

Geo

LLC is the closest lake with lakers. I fished LLC on about 15 trips and never caught one. If you want lakers, go east side in May.

In the western BWCAW laker lakes that I know of Fat, Gun, LLC, Takucmich, and Oyster. How ever none are close to Crooked.

We are also going to be in Crooked - Friday Bay - to base camp. Will be there in early June. We would love to take a day trip to target some Lakers. How is the travel to Argo? Would it be easier to hit Cone Lake instead? Which has better Laker action? Thanks for any information you can provide.

You would have to have to buy a day use permit for Quetico, as well as obtain a Remote Border Crossing Permit for the individuals in your group, as well as Ontario fishing licenses/outdoor cards.

That said, both Cone and Argo are good.

Yup....I wouldn't want to be caught by Canadian Rangers without proper permits/licenses. That would be one big honking fine. Or worse.

Thanks for the information. Seems like a lot of trouble and money for a day trip :). Looks like I'll leave the Laker gear at home too.
