Any recent Ensign Lake fishing reports? We are going in 3 weeks and getting excited.

Was on Ensign last week. Bite was lite for all species. Picked up some walleye in 12 ft or so next to rock drop offs on SE side of lake, using Gulp leeches. SMB in shallow rocks on same. DNR official coming out of lake, said that reports had been on the slow side. Bugs weren't bad. Good luck.

Thank you for the update. Hope it picks up for us in 2 weeks. This will be probably my sixth time to Ensign and we have never been disappointed. It is an easy trip with generally good fishing on a beautiful lake.

We based camped on Ensign mid June and caught many fish, not much size to them but the action was good. You are heading into the hot part of the year, try the deeper structure.

Thanks for the info Gary. Two weeks out now for us. I find myself scouring trip reports these day, daydreaming of the solitude of the north country and of seeing a smallie breaking the calmness of the water surface, hammering my top water offering.

What canoe team won the fishing contest on our trip, Savage?
That would be us.

Leaving Tuesday, any recent returners with updates. Heard eyes are 15-18 and SMB and NP 8-10 still taking topwater morning and evening.

I have come to this conclusion about fishing reports. If everyone coming out has a negative fishing report that gives me cause for hope, because I believe the fish are about to turn on again. Every time I have heard they are biting like crazy they have all had their fill and the next few days are not going to be biting. And when I hear they haven't been biting good, that"s when I have done the best. I hope for you a VERY BAD fishing report going in.
