We are heading up to Alice Lake at the end of July and would like some input on the best artificial leeches. We bought a pack of Berkley Gulp! black turtle worms and wonder if we can fool the Walleye into thinking they're leeches. They sure look like leeches to me! Any tips on presenting artificial leeches would be helpful too! Thanks!

"Slimers" are the most natural artificial leech on the market.

What is this? An artificial lure endorsement? This couldn't POSSIBLY be the real Jim because this just wouldn't happen in his world. Perhaps, he has been LYING to me all this time? I'm so confused. Except...the "Big Sissy" Diana comment is exactly what Jim would say. Which in return would make him a Big Fat Liar! I definitely recognize the "Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh" too.

I'm so ordering some of these yummy looking, easy to put on your hook and no worries about it suckin' my blood, leeches.

HEY,
The endorsement was only for those going into the Quetico, or anyone who is too big of a wimp to handle the real thing!!
I certainly hope that Diva isn't one of the latter!! :)

Tried the 1 1/2" gulp leaches for the first time with no success. I thought they looked good in the container till I pulled one out to bait up. Felt more like a chunk of rubber someone cut out of a tire than the real thing. After viewing Walleye Hunters clip on Slow Death hooks I might try artificials again with that combination.

Recognizing that any live bait in canoe country is a small pain in the ass,I am beholden to it simply because it works. Sure like the look and theory behind those hooks though. Walleye Hunter, have you tried them with artificials? What are your thoughts?

If that hook turns like a corkscrew, you'd better use a swivel or your line will twist into one big mess.

You only say that because you know what I go through when I am forced to hold a leech. Heck, you offered to pay my son(s) big money to torture me with leeches...I got that one on video mister. Good thing my boy's know that I will whoop on them (no matter how big they are) and would vouch that their mom is no wimp.

Funny though, I have no problems cuttin' a night crawler in thirds and hooking those slimy things. Glad you let me get away with that, the last trip. ;-)
