This years June trip will be the 3rd wk of June and were planning on base camping with daily excursions. Group of 4 all with experience so distance and portages are not am issue. The issue is none of us have been to this area and the focus of our trip will be fishing. Not looking to steal anyones honey hole just need some info. or experiences in this area.
There comes a time when the blind man says don't ya see..
I used Rockwood Outfitters for a fall trip and they knew where the fishing was hot at that time of the year. Your best bet is to get advice from an outfitter when you are leaving. It also depends on what you want to fish for, but that area has everything. If you have more questions, feel free to email me: mynewlife04_06@yahoo.com
I was there over Memorial Day this year... fish was really slow. I caught 5 walleye (only 1 decent one, 22", the rest were tiny) and one 8" smallie. I also tried to trout on Winchell but had no luck. Just about everybody I talked to said fishing was slow for them too. I was happy to hear it wasn't just me.
