I just spent the last hour reading your posts and they are quit interesting. Do you still hire out your guide services?

I was a canoe guide at Gunflint Northwoods Outfitters when I was in high school and college. Occasionally the lodge would use me has a fishing guide but I am just a weekend angler, not a pro. I did learn a lot from some friends that were guides and one of them was a very good guide. I was fortunate to grow up in Grand Marais and now live in Duluth so most of my fishing experience (minus 4 years living in Alaska) is from lakes that are in the BWCA or very close to it.

That's interesting. I grew up in Duluth and get up there quit a bit. I spend as much time on the gunflint as I can and have fished with four different guides so far. Not all up there however. I never hire a guide with expectations of catching fish all day long, but rather to learn from them and learn is what I have done. It's fun to spend a day with someone who fishes everyday. If you are ever interested in going fishing up on the Gunflint let me know.

Interested! It would be cool to drive into Mountain. If you don't mind my asking, approx. where do you live in Duluth? I grew up near Lincoln Park and my parents still live in the same house.

That's one of my favorite parts of that town.
