I am taking my son for his 1st trip into the BWCA, early Sep. Can anyone give me some fishing tips on the N. Kawishiwi river. What bait, where to fish. I have never been on this river. Thanks!

Fish the swift water below the portages using a 1/4 oz jig or #4 aberdeen hook and a two small splitshot about a foot above the hook. Tip it with 1/2 a crawler or leech or a similar Gulp! product if you don't want to carry live bait.

Send me an email with some more specifics of your trip and I'll be happy to help you two out with specific fishing spots and campsites. Heck, if you're dates are right I'll show ya! I'll be wandering through there somewhere betweeen Aug 30th and Sept 3rd.
