what is a Tullibee (cisco)?? The 2008 survey of Alton lake says there are tons of these.
what are they, can you eat them? are they worth fishing for??

I have been fishing Alton for a long time and never caught one by accident. so I have no experience with them.

A type of whitefish basically. Yes you can eat them. Are they worth fishing for? I dunno, some people like whitefish, some don't.

Small hook and worms with light line. Don't set the hook to hard. I would try around where streams dump into the lake.

They are a Whitefish and can be eaten. They have a small mouth so I have heard you need a small hook and bait.

Tullibee are great smoked. If you think Northern Pike smell, you've never caught a Tullibee.
I don't remember ever catching one except through the ice.

I'll second that. They are very good smoked and washed down with a cold brew!

They are a favored food of lake trout and lakes that contain them tend to have bigger lakers.

Northern Pike grow large in lakes with a good cisco population as well.
