I understand that all artificial lures are evil and should never be used, only live bait.
But I am curious is there a difference in the different brands of spoons? Does one type work better? Do the inexpensive ones work as well as the more expensive name brand spoons like Daredevil?
not that I would ever use one of these foul contraptions...

I think there is a lot of difference in spoons by brand. Some are designed to cast and others are designed for trolling. Some are real heavy for their size and some are light.
The Daredevils seem to run better than the imitations and don’t rust as fast.
Little Cleo’s sink real fast but have nice action.
Acme Cast Masters freakin sail through the air!
Johnson’s Silver Minnows (weedless) run well but you’ll get more misses with that single hook.
Some of the long skinny “trolling” spoons work fantastic for pike and lakers.

Voyageur, when it comes to Daredevil type spoons, genuine daredevils are probably better. But, I have caught a ton of pike on cheapies. Yes the paint chips off, they do rust, but this hasn't really bothered me. I usually lose em before they get too far gone anyway.

Snakecharmer, I had one o fthose rapala spoons and I never caught a dammed thing on it so I gave it to a freind of mine and when he was on a fly in trip they had several of them and the only lure that caught fish regularly on that trip was the blue and silver rapala spoon, go figure.

I have had great luck using the Blue Pixee rattlin spoons.
I was watching "The Next Bite" the other day, and they were putting
soft plastics on the trebles of their spoons. I thought this was an interesting idea. I bought a couple different colored twister tails and will try it out next weekend. Anybody else do this?

That's what I was kind of thinking. To be quite honest, I should of thought of this on my own. I figure my Blue Pixee rattler and cyclops will be irresistable now......well maybe
