I am entering Entry Point 16 the week of May 31st and plan to camp in the North Agnes/Boulder Bay/Tiger Bay area depending on how out of shape my group is. Where would you recommend fishing for the best chance of 10+ lb northern? Is Ramshead as good as its billing or should we stick with Iron or Lac La Croix? Thanks for your input.

We've camped on the north end of Agnes and either fished for them from camp or in the northeast bay of Agnes just before the 24 rod portage and have had some monsters. We used dead ciscoes on a slip bobber and managed to catch some real hogs--one guy had a 39" and a 40" fish. We also have caught some nice northerns in Boulder Bay.

Beanman-
I'm doing the same trip two weeks after you. You will have to let me know how yours goes. I would like to try and get one of those biggies on a fly rod. We'll see.

Hello Gentlemen,

I am going in EP 16 May 14th and am planning on base camping in north end of Agnes as well. I will let you know if I find any good spots for northern.

This is my first time in the BWCA (been to the quetico once) and my first time to Agnes. Any good Walleye holes you would like to share?

Thanks,

Adam T

Adam - Suggest you press on just a bit further to LLC's Tiger Bay. When you get there you'll understand.

Adam, I suggest you head over to Oyster for some lake trout action. Mid May is a great time to catch them on Oyster.
