rodstepper, we were just passing through Memorial Day 2008 & camped on the northwestern side of the lake. Of the three of us, I was the only one who fished, just before sunset, & landed a pike & an eye, losing a couple of jigs to marauders, in fairly short order. Seemed like a good bit for less than an hour of shore fishing.
I've read here Fourtown gets a fair amount of pressure & has fewer, & smaller, fish, so perhaps May is the month to target them when they've rested up from a long winter under the ice.

fished from shore by the river and did great last year at end of may. minnows, minnows, and more minnows. they work best in the spring. we caught fish all day with lindy set ups (bring a bell for tip of fishing rod). biggest was a 39 in pike.
