O.K. I am hoping and praying for a five or six night trip starting Oct 9th. My route will be a north/south kawishiwi river loop starting from Farm Lake more than likely. My primary question: Is catch and release fishing legal this time of year? Secondary Question: What would you fill a small tackle box with during this time of year?

I'm also going in early October. If I could, I'd like to add to Bumabo's question, would you bring leaches of crawlers? Thanks

Huh? ;) personally, I like surface lures poppers, plugs etc. and crawlers. PARTLY because I hear leeches are beginning to get a bit scarce. My $0.02.

I'm not much of a fisherman so I could be wrong about this, but my understanding is that at that time of the year lake trout season is closed and smallmouth is catch and release. Walleye, northerns, and panfish are all open.
