Three of us are heading up to Seagull Thursday, planning on a few nights of camping. Anyone been up there recently or has a lake condition report? Any snow on the ice? Slush? Any areas to watch out for? I see the forecast calls for some warm days with rain Monday then another stretch of below freezing temps.

I think we are going to use the Blankenberg landing to avoid the narrow sections from Trail's End access. Looking on setting up somewhere around Miles island and pull a few trout up the hole. Can't wait!

Call an outfitter on the Gunflint. They would have the most current info.

Can't build a forest by making phone calls:)

I gave it a look, good for current temps.

I talked with Tuscarora Outfitters and got some questions answered.

This is what the lakes along the Gunflint Trail looked like on Sunday when I went fishing. The lake trout were being very cooperative and I caught several fish, including these two beautiful fork tails that came home with me. My biggest release was about 9 pds. I certainly didn't have a 100 fish day like some BWCA.comers but I caught more fish than I usually catch. Good luck.

Nice looking fish walleye_hunter. Thanks for the encouragement! The weatehr has been weird and the forecast looks coooooooold but we are still excited to get up there. We're expecting more wood processing than fishing but you can saw and keep an eye on a tip up at the same time right?

I'm gonna say 'breezy.' Good thing you aren't out there tonight.
