Welcome, Noisy Wet Hermit!
Yikes. How do we abbreviate your screen name? I think I will go with The Hermit. It has a certain ring to it and is easier to key in.

Hello Fellow Canoe and Guitar Guy, OneMatch!

Do you take any musical instruments to the Boundary Waters?
Last year, Mike (Whatsit) and I were going to take a wooden flute and harmonica, but we got halfway to Eli and remembered that we forgot to pack them. But all was good, since we had WAAAYYY too much stuff. I think Big Carl (my pack) weighed 70 pounds.

No one wanted to carry Big Carl by the end of the trip. :-)

I was so sick of Carl. Remember when we dragged Carl over that portage to Lake Insula?

Congrat's on your recent purchase Whatsit.

I too own a Vagabond and play guitar. Is your Vababond Royalex in order to handle that Black river?

We still have a foot of snow on the Black River. I can't wait for spring.
Have I seen you on the river? I'm usually upstream of Black River Falls.

Thanks IceColdGold, Cheers! We must be brothers, or canoe twins. What's better than paddling the Vagabond up the Black, pulling a Cold Gold out of the cooler and strumming the guitar?

Yep, I'm Whatsit's brother in law. Our wives are sisters. I'm thrilled that Whatsit got a Vagabond, they are great boats aren't they? Whatsit has a bigger one, but his wife liked my little one so much that he wanted a smaller one too.

Thanks Adam, Are you coming back to the Black?
I've been all over the Black River from Lake Arbutus to just past Highway 35 near Holmen.
Someday I want to go from the dam below Lake Arbutus to the Mississippi River in one trip. But lately, I caught the Boundary Waters bug from my brother in law.

Since moving to SoCal, it's not likely I'll get a chance to paddle the Black again. But, never say never...
BTW: enjoyed your trailer :-)
