As many of you know I have been battling a series of serious medical issues these past few months and I will be dealing with them for awhile. I will get through all of them and I will be fine.
I have decided to give up Canoe tripping for the foreseeable future and spend more time focusing on my health and family. I have also been raising two young granddaughters and they deserve more than long weekends away and we will be spending more time together and showing them the world I have had a chance to explore and hopefully many more places I haven't.
As part of this I have also decided to give up my role as a moderator on this site. I have a great passion and admiration for this site, its members and Adam and I simply don't have the time to give the job my all.
I thank all of you for your support of me and I will still be hanging around so this isn't goodbye in the least.
I just felt I owed you all an explanation.

Be well and be happy.
And I dare you to give up canoe tripping in its entirety.
Our needs and foci change but I suspect you are addicted.
I took the last year mostly off to devote to recovery from angioplasty, cancer and now arthritis. Have been told to get a knee replacement and give up canoe tripping.
NEVER!

I wish you well with your health and with your family. It sure sounds as though you have your priorities in good perspective.
I thank you for your work and service on this Board. I have always greatly appreciated the time the Mods have taken to keep the Board what it is today.
I hope your future unfolds in a way that you hope it well.

Rob, Do what you need to do to take care of yourself and your family; those priorities should always come first. My thanks to you for setting me straight when need be, and please know that if there is anything I can do for you, all you have to do is ask. Thoughts and prayers with you.

Oh, Rob/Bojibob,
I think you know what is in my heart. You and I have tangled many a time, and I hope we have worked through it now--most of it, anyway! :-) You have my utmost respect, and my very good wishes as you start these new chapters in your life.
You are very correct that family trumps all, and also that there are many places to see and things to do besides the canoe country. If you come back to Quetico, all well and good; if not, enjoy your memories and have no regrets. There is much to life besides and beyond canoeing.
Take care of yourself and be well, my friend. You will be in my prayers and my thoughts.

Focus your energies on your health and family, boji. Hopefully in a couple years the medical issues will all be behind you and maybe, if you want to, you can return again to the Q while still caring for those granddaughters - maybe they will be able to help you portage by then!
Hang in there and be well.

You have a lot on your plate and it is good to focus on what is most important. Doing too much just leaves us tired and makes everything harder. The wilderness, and this forum, will be there when you are ready.
Thank you for all of your efforts and good luck.

Rob, you know how I feel about this. You have our support and best wishes as you fight your health battles and enjoy your family.

Rob you are in my family's prayers and thoughts. You are now and always have been a very valuable part of this site and we will miss you being here all the time. Family and your health comes first, take care of them, and yourself, and be here as much as you are able.

Rob, my brother... I know the importance of family and time spent with them! I also know the toll personal illness can take on your body, mind, emotions, and life! I am sure I am in agreement with many here when I say I hate to see you go and relinquish your moderator status.
As a friend I support your decision, but also as a friend I will miss your wit, humor and your being Rob!
If there is ever anything you need, want to talk about, ask questions about I know you know how to reach me. Been through a lot of what your going through and continuing to have some issues, but that is life!
I want you to remember we still have a "moderator's trip" to plan sometime in the future. Might not be real strenuous due to some of us old guys (me) getting older, but we still need to do one! It think Jackfish, Bogs, Adam and others will agree!
Take care my friend, you are in my prayers!
Bruce

Rob,
I want to thank you for the incredible service and dedication to this site both as a moderator and advisor. Your contributions will continue to be with BWCA.com well into the future. And even if you step away from the site for 20 years, you will be remembered on your return.
I wish you a speedy recovery and splendid time with your family. And look forward to one day taking a trip however short to the BWCA or Quetico with you.
With that said, I return to you your pine trees. We might have to add a new badge in the future esteemed past service to the site.
Best Wishes!
Adam

Boji,
I've never met you in person, but I will admit you were one of the very first people to welcome me to this forum. We spoke one afternoon in the chat room and I left there that day feeling welcome.
Thank you for that!
And thank you for everything you do, and your dedication to this forum. I'm sure it wouldn't be the same without your input.
Take care of yourself and those two little girls!
