Hello All-
Sorry about the two blank posts about the tables. My computer freaked out on me and sent them blank. I'm going on my third fishing trip to the BW, but this time I'm leading it. I'm kind of obsessing over the details because if something doesn't get thought of, it'll be my head. My question is: what creative ideas have you come up with for tables to prep food on, etc? Thanks for the input.

Here are some options

Many people take their canoe and support it with rocks or logs and flip it upside down so the bottom becomes a table. Most BWCAW canoes have very flat bottoms so it works great.

Alot of others use the fire grate-before lighting the fire or if they use a stove and just cover the openings with tin foil or something.

Rocks in the kitchen area work for em and I do not mind working while sitting on the ground or up a little higher if it is more of a boulder.

I have seen a roll up table-I am sure some bring something like this but have not heard of it or seen it used.

Here are the things I use...

firegrate (I cook on stoves)
top of blue barrel
flat rocks nearby
logs, etc... what ever is handy.

Many people I see do turn their canoes upside down and use those... particularly if they are aluminum... for some reason I have a fear of doing that on top of a fiberglass/duralite SR Quetico 18.5...
Good luck on leading your trip. After my first trip I decided I could do it all my self and have since bought everything I need to outfit a group of 6 - 8 people and have lead all of my trips since and I love it... the challenge of it all... the trip, the planning, all of it!!

I take a cheap 6' x 8' tarp from Menards to lay on the ground and place my cook kit, plates, cups ect. on it. This keeps your stuff out of the dirt and we also used the tarp to sail 2.5 miles one windy day on Loon.
