the temps look to be above normal to much above normal especially in the middle of the month. Fishing "should" be great!! Of course that doesn't mean there will not be cold fronts/wind and a raw rain at times,, but overall MAY is shaping up great!

forecast temp departure in C from May 10 through May 20th--

forecast temp departure in C for the entire month of the MAY-

Thanks WhiteWolf. Your forecast makes me so happy.

That is great prognosis. Leaving in a month and hoping to avoid much of the cold, cold rain.

Great News!!!!! Two years ago had some snow drifts and last year had to change our route with ice.

Crossing my fingers its warm! Unfortunately I think I have more clothes packed than I "should" because the weather could be anything by the looks of it!

Thanks for the update. Leaving in four weeks. Fingers crossed for good weather.

I'm assuming 70 during the day and 20's at night. That should cover it.

Giddiness has entered my camp upon reading your great news. My permit pulled last week, I can barely contain my excitement to adventure in mid-May. This will likely be one of only two trips to the BWCA this year as an extended obligation in lateJuly/August will deny me of trekking in my own back yard. Thank you White Wolf for your prognostication.

Works for me, keep those mosquitoes at bay.

That is great news!

Though I suppose it means I will end up bringing a bug net for my solo. But I can work with that.

Ahhhh, I hope not! I am going up in 2 weeks and I hope they will be few and far between, but who knows.

Hopefully there will be enough rain for everything to leaf out well before then. Taking my 9 yo son on his first BWCA trip on the 28th of May. Bummer if there's a burning ban in place.

You may still be ok in two weeks. My solo is at the very end of May and I am thinking the bugs will be in swing by then. Not bringing a net this weekend or on the May 16th trip.

Finally getting excited for my solo in May. Less than 3 weeks. Not even close to being ready. Hoping to get out in my canoe this week but work is very busy plus I now spend about an hour each day at the gym getting in shape for canoe season. I cannot wait until I head north so I can relax!

We're putting in at Seagull, May 13th for 12 days. I quit my job (for other reasons) so I have all this week to get ready. Have a great time everyone!

Yup! The 'skeeeters will be waiting. Don't kid yourself, one year we left in the first days of May and the ice had just gone out the day before. Made it to the first portage and we saw the buggers already! I swear they had fur on 'em.
